JPIC Commission of UISG Meeting Today

Today I had the privilege of attending my first JPIC Commission meeting of the UISG.  The majority of the time was spent in reflecting on the latest Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii gaudium.  Some of the comments heard following the review by two of the members included:

• We have a JPI Pope and need to support him in his efforts of justice and peace
• We need to be persons of integrity like Pope Francis
• We are all missionaries by the fact of our Baptism
• Chapter 3 is the "Heart of the Exhortation"
• The greatest issue among Christians is an almost complete lack of missionary zeal
• The Exhortation is a message of compassion and hope
• We evangelize to liberate the Spirit
• We need to be instruments of Christ's presence
• Be "out there" with the people
• We need to smell like the sheep
• Pope Francis' message is a "Revolution of Tenderness"

If you were to ask someone as they leave Church this weekend "What have you done this week to spread the faith?"  they would think you were either a Fundamentalist or you're a bit odd.


Justice and peace is everyone's mission not just the JPIC coordinator.
